Truckee River Fishing Report 7/18

Things are good here on the Truckee River, and the river is dropping slowly daily. The whole river is in great shape all the way down through Nevada. She’s still above 1000 cubes here in Hirschdale and on down, but the river has seemed to adjust to the higher flows, to be honest, I kinda like it like this. The dry fly fishing is not the greatest, but fishing a big gnarly dry will bring some fish up. Good bugs are, caddis, caddis, caddis, some golden stones, lil yellow stones, a few drakes, and pmds. The streamer bite is still good, and the crayfish bite will arrive here shortly as well. It still feels like June, not the middle of July up here. Water temps are in the mid-50’s, perfect. Skip the chores, drop the kids off at the baby sitter, and tell the wife you need to go fish the Truckee.
