Truckee River Fishing Report 9/24/13

Feeling a lot like fall in the greater Truckee-Tahoe-Reno area on the Truckee River. Great, as our last two falls were more like summer. If you were here last weekend you would have seen snow on Donner, the Sisters, and Mt. Rose. Fired up the wood stove, first time I can remember doing that in September in years. Fishing has been damn good on the T, and in both states. We have another week system coming in tomorrow, which is good. We need the storms to start rolling through. Streamers and nymphs have been getting it done. The fall beatis hatches have started as well. Go up to the Little Truckee and look at the parking lot. Kinda funny actually, they’ll be fish rising everywhere and dudes will just stare at their bobber all day. Back to the Truckee, crays, stones, october caddis, and baetis nymphs have been sticking fish. Sculpins and smaller baitfish patterns have been working well on the streamer front. Fall is a great time of the year on the Truckee River, if not the best.
