Truckee River Fishing Report 5-27-14

The weather up here in Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area is pretty much perfect, fishing, well, it’s pretty good too. It usually seems to snow every Memorial Day weekend, but I think we hit near 85 degrees in the Hirsch last few days. Nice warm days are getting the bugs going and pushing fish into faster water. Though it’s a drought year, the river is still somewhat big from the Hirsch and down into Nevada. The upper stretches, above Boca are a a lot more user friendly. Every rig should produce you some fish, tight lining, indo nymphing, dry dropper rigs, and maybe you’ll get a big boy to chase the streamer. No signs of drakes yet, the caddis haven’t exploded off yet either, but soon. The caddis pupa is the big deal now, and best to have G-6’s on your rigs sub-surface. Fun times here on the Truckee River.
