Truckee River Fishing Report- Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing Report-3-11-15

Good fishing happening on the Truckee River right now. I wouldn’t say it’s lights out, but for this time of year, mid-March, it could not be much better. Usual mid-March conditions would be dealing with high water, wind and snow, and more high water, but not this year. Like I say take advantage of the water we have now because they’re might not be much come late summer.

Blue wing olives and skwala stones, no march browns yet, but real soon. Nymph with those 3 patters and that will lead to success. Streamers for sure if it’s overcast. Tight line nymphing, indo, dry droppers, all that stuff works, just have to pick a way to fish and have fun. Flows are pretty good throughout the entire river and with this warmer than average weather the whole river is fishing well.

I’ve mostly been on the river lately and haven’t been able to get out to the lake to much. It has been hit and miss at Pyramid Lake. It’s all weather related out there. The fish are coming in during low light hours, always. On the bight days it can be tough, but cloudy days they can be cruising off the shelf all day long. The next 2 months are prime time out at the lake. If you hit it right you can rack up some big numbers.

Remember we have one more Pyramid Lake clinic this Saturday the 14th. It will be our last one of the year.
