Truckee River Fishing Report- Pyramid Lake Fishing Report- 4-20-15

Flows have been cut in half on the Truckee River coming out of Boca. Thank God, because there was no way with Boca being as low as it is that we would have any water left come this sumer. We probably still won’t anyway, have any water left later this summer, but at least the river may have some water in it for a while.

That being said the river is fishing well. It is about 220 cfs here in Hirschdale, higher towards state line and much lower through Reno. It’s about what it was a month ago before they staring releasing water out of Boca.

Flows on the Little Truckee River are good too. 88cfs and holding. Fishing is good out there as well.

Rain and snow next week…Lets hope.

Pyramid Lake is hit and miss. Usually spring is the best time to fish the lake, but with this warm sunny weather fishing can be tough. If the weather forecast says sun and no wind, go early, or late. If the forecast call for some wind and some clouds than you may have an all day bite. Fish are cruising in very shallow water. Some bigs have been caught, but mostly a lot of cookie cutters.

Remember the general trout opener is next Saturday and that will open everything else up. Not much water anywhere else in Tahoe, but lakes like Milton and all that will be open.

Fishmas Eve is this next Friday night. All proceeds go to our local Trout Unlimited chapter #103. Come on out.
