Truckee River Fishing Report-10-18-16

That’s a photo of the South Fork Snake River. I’ve been out there the last week. I have a few photo’s from the trip on here.

Well, looks like we actually got a shit ton of rain last weekend in Tahoe-Truckee. The Truckee River blew out if you can believe that. I’ve only seen that happen like 2 times in October. Very good news for our river and our trouts. The river got up over 1000 cubes at Farad and looks like it’s settling down into the 300’s now. The next month should be very good fishing on the river, like some of the best. It starts getting pretty cold around T-Giving and things will slow down. Then it’s kinda a few big fish a day type thing. Bust out the streamers for that big brown and nymph up on all the others. Our fish are as big as any in the West, still, even after the last few drought summers. Fall is a great time to be on the Truckee River.

Pyramid Lake has been very good with the last set of storms. Some of my friends posts on Instagram looks like they’ve been doing well. Couple 15 pounders, and an 18 pounder. Good news is that they got them from shore. So looks like the shore fishing season has started-so to speak. I’ll be out there a few times next week. This is also the time to get to the lake.

Remember, switch rod clinics next month at Pyramid Lake.
