Truckee River Fishing Report-2-23-17

Heavy, heavy snow again.

Just a quick update regarding the last storm. Heavy snow fell, not rain, so the Truckee River is in pretty good shape. The river only rose about 200 cfs here in the Hirsch. We should loose that soon with cold overnight lows. Big still at over 2000 cfs below Boca, but much more manageable up along the ‘Shire, and closer to town. The snow is going to put a clamp down on access again. No place to park in my hood.

Honestly, I think most of us are getting a little tired of winter. Maybe a sunny nice March? We’ll see, Historically March is a big storm month for Tahoe. All in all the river is in good shape, you’ll just have to get used to fishing a bigger Truckee River, much like the winter and spring of ’11. (I stuck my biggest fish that spring.)
