On stream Switch Rod instruction

What is a Switch Rod? It is a rod that has unlimited potential in a variety of casting and fishing applications for the Truckee River. An 11 foot, two handed rod in a five weight and six weight, lined with the new short Skagit Lines from Rio, allow an angler to make a spey cast on the Truckee River. Eliminating the use of a back cast enables an angler to fish large heavy flies or swing soft hackles to the toughest reaches. A switch rod is a perfect tool for the difficult back casting situations you will encounter on the Truckee River. When it comes to nymphing, there is nothing better than a Switch Rod. Long mends and hard to reach seams feel effortless with the long rod length of a Switch Rod. Snap T, double spey, switch cast, and perry poke are all casts you can learn in a day along the banks of the Truckee River with Gilligan. Come see what all the hype is about.

Beginning fly fishing special

This half day beginning fly fishing class will give you the basic foundation necessary not only to catch fish but to understand the patterns in which fish feed in the Truckee River and Little Truckee Rivers. This class starts off in a local park where we learn to cast, rig your rod, and tie knots. We then go to the the Truckee River and do a little fishing. You will learn to read the water, do some basic entomology, learn what flies to use, and land a fish if we get that lucky.

$225 one, or two person, half day, Use my equipment or yours..
